Chris Dobey ended the Fallon Sherrock fairytale as he came from behind to see off ‘The Queen of the Palace’ in a six set thriller.

Following their respective wins in round two, there had been plenty of media attention surrounding the match as Dobey looks to break into the top 16 with a deep run at the Alexandra Palace.

It looked as if the dream run was going to continue early on as Sherrock grasped the early initiative, despite Dobey averaging over the ton mark, Sherrock rattled in a 104 to take the lead.

Dobey would level in convincing fashion before a stunning 142 checkout would re-build the lead for Sherrock as she eyed up a tie with Glen Durrant in the last 16.

‘Hollywood’ would reel off the fourth set of the match without reply as the Sherrock confidence looked to take a knock.

The trifecta of ton-plus finishes would be completed as the Milton Keynes ace took out a 124, again on double 11. But Dobey would push his nose ahead for the first time as he continued to average around the ton mark.

Former Premier League contender Dobey’s momentum would proceed as he took a further three legs, including a spectacular 141 of his own to see off the resilient Sherrock in her final match of the 2020 PDC World Championship.

Dobey will now face Glen Durrant for a place in the quarter-finals.
