Gary Anderson returned to the Milton Keynes stage as averaged 108 in defeating third placed Michael Smith to get himself back on track for a play-off spot. Anderson defeated the former World Youth Champion in the World Matchplay semi-finals and made it two in a two in a row with a superb win over the world number five.

Both players were out of the blocks quickly, Smith hitting his first maximum in the first leg of the match, and taking the first leg of the match. Anderson would hit back immediately with a 12-darter of his own, taking out a 124 checkout.

The pair would exchange blows over the next cluster of legs, with both players averaging around the 110 mark as we reached three a piece.

Whilst Smith’s averaged wavered slightly, Anderson remained strong, a crucial hold of throw on tops was followed by a magnificent 90 checkout on the bullseye as he looked to repeat the World Matchplay win over ‘BullyBoy’

The two points would be wrapped up in the following leg as Anderson closed the gap on the leading pack, winning on night seven of the Premier League.
