Dunvegan Darts’ Gary Anderson lost his undefeated record against Nathan Aspinall in the Premier League.

Looking to go back into the Play-Off places, The Flying Scotsman could not get going on the last night of the first phase of the 2021 event. He was hampered by bounce outs and missed doubles throughout his 7-2 defeat to The Asp.

Both players held their opening leg, before Aspinall held once more to go 2-1 in front. From there, the problems started for the two time Premier League champion, as bounce outs and stray darts cost him. The Asp went 4-1 up in 25 darts before Anderson missed two to close the gap to 4-2. The 2019 UK Open Champion then found double 14 to move two breaks clear.

Aspinall then guaranteed himself a point with a 13 dart hold before Anderson got his second leg on the board, hitting double eight to cut the gap. Unfortunately, it did not start a comeback as a 102 shot from Aspinall completed the win.

While a disappointing end to the week for Anderson, he is still well in touch in the race for the Play-Offs. He will be back in action on Night Ten of the event, which is happening on Wednesday 5 May 2021. The fixtures will be confirmed Wednesday 28 April.
